Cardboard Christmas at Orlando Museum of Art

The magical city of Orlando in Florida is more than Disney, it has been transforming itself into an urban magnet for new trends in business, transportation, and of course arts. One of the city museums, The Orlando Museum of Art celebrates each year the Festival of Trees; year after year this festival has been expanding reaching new audiences and has raised a considerable amount of money under the lead of the Council 101. For this 30th edition, we were contacted by the Council 101 via our friends at Factur, the greatest Fabrication Lab in Central Florida. Having calls like this, and being able to cooperate with organizations such as the Museum, the Council, and Factur is a big achievement for us  (remember this is only our 1st year of operations in the US). As you walk into the lobby of Museum you will see a giant cardboard tree designed and installed by the local artist Terry H. behind this you will see the words PEACE, JOY, and LOVE together with some doves; all of them designed and manufactured in our studio in the US.

The words have the same width, we played with the size and position of each piece, generating different compositions that made each word a sculpture. We also produced the doves of different sizes. Doves can vary their location, and place themselves on the letters or on the sides. All the pieces are white and some letters have small designs inspired by the Christmas wrapping paper. In addition, we created 3 cardboard Christmas trees with different designs: A classic model, which recreates the typical Christmas tree, another classic spruce, decorated with small stamped pigeons, and a tree with more contemporary lines. The festival kicked off with a big party on November 12th and it is running until the 20th. The designs are for sale and the money raised will be used to finance the museum.
