What is a geodesic dome?
The first thing that strikes us when talking about a cardboard geodesic dome is its attractive name. It should be explained that we are referring to a type of dome structured in faces formed by triangles, hexagons, or other types of polygons. The result combines aesthetics and functionality. Hence, we have used this type of design on several occasions. Let’s take a look at some of the examples best received by our customers, produced entirely with certified and 100% recyclable materials.
Custom design for an assembly without scares.
Sustainable and 100% recyclable
Customizable and easy to transport modules
Dome for playhouse or children’s area
A cardboard geodesic dome is ideal for toy libraries, nurseries, playgrounds and play spaces. A good example is this structure made from hexagonal modules cardboard attached to each other. Are 25 modules in total, which make up a space of 4 meters in diameter. Iscustomizable with colors, images and different textures. And very stable, so much that allows variations within its structure. For example, the opening of windows that provide the interior with light. They serve, as well as a resource for children to play, leaning out or even moving through them.
Customizable exhibition space
With a design almost identical to that of the geodesic dome for toy libraries, you can count on an ideal space to complete an exhibition. Customizing the surface with digital printing on the inside and mounting only one part of the modules, we have an original decorative wall. In this case with marine motifs, in keeping with the theme of the sample. Installation requires some technique, but is really easy for skilled hands.
Another type of dome very suitable for exhibitions is the one formed by equilateral and isosceles triangles combined. These are grouped together creating a unique asymmetric design. In this case, a total of 35 triangular modules were used and we added circular dies with various sizes and positions to give the whole a different touch. The dome, 200 cm x 440 cm, allowed visitors to enter and interact with the exhibition. When designing this type of structure, the practical aspect is taken into account, ensuring that the assembly experience is pleasant. The dome is large (200 cm x 440 cm) so that visitors can enter and interact with the exhibition. When designing this type of structure, the practical aspect is taken into account, ensuring that the assembly experience is pleasant. In this case, the client himself took care of assembling it.
Geodesic dome as an interactive didactic activity
Building a cardboard geodesic dome structure for educational purposes is a very interesting activity. It serves to explain to students what architecture can do in response to environmental challenges, such as climate change. Geodesic domes provide certain solutions in the line of sustainability. It also supposes a collaborative experience between speakers, students and teachers. This allows the simple construction mechanisms of an apparently complex structure to be put into practice in a didactic way.
